Ismail Şanal was born in İzmir, Turkey in 1983.

He has studied opera and art since his childhood. His perception of art was enriched when he got in touch with the academic staff at the Fine Arts of Dokuz Eylül University, at which he was a student at the vocational school under the Education Faculty. 

He worked on modern impressions until he moved to İstanbul in 2006 and within the chaotic atmosphere of the city he gravitated towards expressionism. Under the influence of Republican Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu and Abidin Dino, he observed master painters such as Devrim Erbil, Ergin İnan, Kemal Önsoy and Ahmet Güneştekin with great care for many years. His art has been included in many domestic and foreign collections.
